Perovskite is a mineral composed of calcium titanate CaTiO3 and is a type of calcium titanium oxide. Its name is also applied to a class of compounds known as perovskite compounds, which have the same crystal structure as CaTiO3 (XIIA2+VIB4+X23). Many different cations can be embedded in this structure, allowing for the creation of a wide range of engineered materials.
